Just been to a soft play centre and?
It was in my mind not safe...there are usually buzzers on the doors so people cannot leave or arrive unoticed..but they had the main door unlocked and the safety gate was just a normal latch so kids..or adults...could in theory walk inand out if they wanted. It REALLY bothered me...there was nobody on the desk by the doors for about 70% of the time I was there...a lone man could have just snuck in and then God Knows what....also..they had a baby changing unit that pulled down from the wall as normal in the loo...but also one that was just a changing mat on a wire tea trolley! It had sharp bits at the top....the equipment was ok...a bit worn but not dirty...but the kids were running all around the cafe area with massive playballs....no staff were watching....I am in the UK...what body do I report them to?
Local council would be a good start as there are Health and Safety issues. I wouldn't bother speaking to the manager, all you do then is alert them that they may get a H & S inspection and they will be on best behaviour.
Last time I visited a soft play centre we noticed similar things and tiny children climbing up the slide the wrong way etc, parents were too busy in the cafe to notice. We spoke to the staff who said "there are signs telling them not to do climb the slide"! How many 2-3 years olds can read a sign swinging about 8ft above their heads!
The 2 staff on duty also claimed that they were only there to accept the money and serve tea/coffee etc, so no staff supervision whatsoever.
