What is the best type of battery for electronic portable devices?

For the LONGEST battery life, you want single-use lithium-ion batteries. Energizer and Duracell both make 'em.

For the LONGEST LASTING BATTERIES, you want NiMH batteries, which are rechargeable, and are far superior to Ni-Cad rechargeables.

If you want to be environmentally friendly, though, go with NiMH. They're generally used for cameras and other electronics and they have relatively good battery life. Try to get batteries with the highest mAh number (milliamp-hours). Make sure you read a review on the exact batteries you buy because some don't live up to their mAh rating.

I've used the La Crosse charger and it worked wonders on some of my old rechargeables, making them work like new again. I've heard some great things about the Maha too. They're both good.
