How to clean velvet flip flops?

I have a pair of velvet flip flops (sandals) but they got all dirty this weekend playing yard games. Is there something safe that I can clean them with that won't ruin the fabric? Thanks.

Let them dry, then take a good but gentle bristle brush and brush the muck out. Works on other like materials too.
