how can I make a 16v AC adapter a 15v adaptor using resistors?

I have a 16v 500mA adaptor I'd like to use on a 15v device and I have some general soldering skills.. and not enough money to get the specific adaptor
I tried the 16v adapter and it blinks on for one second then shuts off. Guess it is sensitive to the 1 v difference after all. I could plug a 12v adapter in to see what happens but this unit is still worth some money

You will probably find that the 16 v adapter will work OK as is. It is only 7% high in voltage.
